Sustainability Tribe Launched ‘Sustainability Education Program’

Amruta Khemkalyani

Tribe, it’s our great pleasure to announce that along with our sustainability consulting arm AK Sustainability Advisory, we have launched our ambitious and innovative ‘Sustainability Education Program’ this Saturday, 10th July, via a virtual launch party!

About Sustainability Education Program

Our Sustainability Education Program is designed with the aim of making quality sustainability education accessible for all to make our business and social community future-ready.

This digital learning program will be in the form of e-books, live and pre-recorded online courses; each dedicated to the key aspects of the following topics

  • Sustainable Business Practices
  • Sustainable Development Goals, UN Agenda 2030
  • Circular Economy
  • Sustainable Living & Consumption

This program will be useful for entrepreneurs, professionals, students, or any individuals who want to learn sustainability to build their business, career or because they want to lead a sustainable life and want to get future-ready. All our e-books and online courses are authored, structured, facilitated by sustainability experts, and will be available at an affordable price.

Over the last 14 years Amruta, founder of Sustainability Tribe & AK Sustainability Advisory has provided sustainability training to executives, professionals as part of her job as a sustainability consultant. She also designs and facilitates sustainability education for corporates and educational institutes. Amruta gets invited to conferences and events to present papers, deliver sustainability-focused lectures. Moreover, through Sustainability Tribe, she has been educating society about sustainable living for the past 12 years. However, Amruta noticed a gap in quality sustainability education, that could be affordable to everyone and help to develop our business as well as social communities around the world. To bridge this gap, the idea of this Sustainability Education Program is born where anyone can access sustainability education from anywhere.

We decided on the online education mode keeping the environment in mind, where all our educational products will be available digitally, without the need for printing. This can help to save natural resources directly. The e-book or online course can simply be so that you can start learning at your own pace. In this program, we will also keep the focus on practical and hands-on learning where along with the theoretical knowledge the pupil can also start implementing their sustainability knowledge. Our education will range from professional education, problem-based learning, gamification through activity books and fun learning courses, cooperative learning in live sessions to thinking-based learning, where you can choose whichever learning methodology suits you best.

For instance, our first E-book ‘UAE Outdoors Scavenger Hunt’ is designed to introduce biodiversity and environmental conservation for the age group from 5 to 99 years. Through this fun learning activity book, we are taking people outdoors and inspiring them to connect with nature consciously.

On the other hand, our first online course ‘SDG Reporting Simplified’ is designed to provide an introduction, pathway, and step-by-step guidelines about SDG Reporting for executives, professionals, sustainability practitioners, and students.

Sustainability Education Launch Party

Our launch event hosted special guests and conversations about sustainability education. The event was started with an introduction to our program. Our founder Amruta Kshmekalyani, said “Governments and businesses around the world are moving towards more sustainable solutions and circular economy. In these times, I strongly believe, whatever profession you are into; you are going to need a basic understanding of sustainability as a key skill for the future.”

The official launch of the event was done by none other than our very own Mr. Sustainability Tribe! This is the first time Nandan participated actively in Sustainability Tribe’s official event. Nandan Tavkar is a sustainability expert, who works with the multi-disciplinary consultancy, Buro Happold, and is currently working on corporate and asset-based net-zero carbon strategies. During his speech, Nandan said, “Sustainability training and education is pretty much the need of an hour. What we have seen professionally is lack of implementation of sustainability is primarily because of the lack of awareness and education.”

Our next guest was, Farah Naz another sustainability expert, sustainable cities strategist, and climate change advisor who works with AECOM as a specialist lead.  She reviewed our first online course ‘SDG (sustainable development goals) Reporting Simplified’ and gave valuable feedback. Farah said during her speech, “Amruta and her Sustainability Tribe is leading by example, creating transformational changes to all levels of societal change. It’s an absolute delight and honor to participate and review the online course.”

Our guest speakers also included mommy blogger Zeyna Sanjania from @mummyonmymind, Author and blogger Sarah Khan from @latteandlove. Both of them reviewed our E-book and gave their honest feedback to our audience.

We invited one of our most committed volunteers, Jyothi Koduganti as a speaker as well. She is a secondary teacher. Jyothi said during her speech, “The great thing about Amruta’s approach to sustainability education is it’s not focused on trends; she takes a larger perspective of issues like climate change, biodiversity, sustainable businesses and brings in practical tips through which you can contribute.”

Our last speaker was Kamljit Parmar, one of the Sustainability Tribe Ambassadors, who spoke about her journey to become our Ambassador. Sustainability Tribe Ambassadors is an innovative challenge-based, social educational program. It’s free to join and once you complete the program, you get sustainable rewards from our Reward Partners.
